Malaysia’s Uber Cup campaign concluded the group stage with a 4-1 defeat to Japan, finishing as Group B runners-up to advance to the quarter-finals.

Letshanaa Karupathevan pushed former world No. 1 Akane Yamaguchi in a competitive match but fell in straight sets (19-21, 17-21).

The scratch pair of Ong Xin Yee and Thinaah Muralitharan were up against Japan’s Yuki Fukushima and Mayu Matsumoto, going down (9-21, 9-21).

Wong Ling Ching delivered a strong performance to defeat Tomoka Miyazaki in straight sets (21-16, 21-13).

Low Zi Yu and Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan produced an impressive display to overcome Rin Iwanaga and Kie Nakanishi in three games (21-17, 12-21, 21-19).

Goh Jin Wei claimed the opening game against Riko Gunji (21-19) but was forced to retire early (3-4) in the second game due to injury.

Malaysia will now progress to the quarter-finals as Group B runners-up.
