Aaron Tai and Khai Xing have ended Malaysia’s 13-year wait for a boys’ doubles gold medal at the World Junior Championships.

The top-seeded Malaysian pair triumphed in a hard-fought match against China's second seeds, Hu Keyuan and Lin Xiangyi, winning 21-18 15-21 21-18 in Nanchang, China, on Sunday.

This victory marks Malaysia's first boys’ doubles title since Nelson Heng and Teo Ee Yi claimed the crown in 2011.

With this win, Aaron and Khai Xing now hold a 3-1 head-to-head record against Keyuan and Xiangyi, avenging their only defeat to the Chinese pair at the Asian Junior Championships in July.

In the girls’ doubles final, Dania Sofea Zaidi and Low Zi Yu took home the silver medal after a 17-21 17-21 loss to Japan’s fourth-seeded duo, Ririna Hiramoto and Aya Tamaki.

Dania and Zi Yu, who entered the tournament unseeded, had an impressive run, defeating China's top seeds, Chen Fan Shutian and Liu Jia Yue, to reach the final. Their silver medal marks the first time a Malaysian girls’ doubles pair has reached the final since Pearly Tan and Toh Ee Wei won silver in 2018.
